Steve Atlee
Steve Atlee is the Deputy General Counsel. Steve's key responsibilities include managing all litigation, overseeing legal aspects of the day-to-day operations at JPL, supervising the office's practice areas, and interacting with senior management across campus and JPL regarding all matters involving the Office of the General Counsel. In this role, he also serves as a member of the Institute's leadership group and acts for the General Counsel in her absence.
Prior to joining Caltech's Office of the General Counsel, Steve was a litigator and trial attorney who also provided strategic advice to clients in the areas of intellectual property, contracts, real property, corporate governance, class actions, and other complex commercial disputes. He has been a partner in several law firms. Steve graduated from Yale University summa cum laude with a BA with distinction in Economics and Political Science. He earned his JD from the University of Southern California, where he served on the Southern California Law Review, worked as a Writing Instructor, and was admitted to the national honorary society Order of the Coif.
